Who’s the gloss

Fans of Resene Super Gloss paint will love the new waterborne alkyd version – Resene Waterborne Super Gloss. It provides the gleam and high-gloss finish of the original, without the VOCs (volatile organic compounds). As it’s slower to dry than Resene Enamacryl, it’s ideal for beginners and those who like a little more time to apply the paint, but faster to dry than Resene Super Gloss. It’s available initially in white and off-white colours.

No charge charging

Resene has partnered with JOLT to bring free electric vehicle (EV) charging to two Resene ColorShops in Auckland – Wairau Park and Manukau. Each JOLT charging station offers EV drivers 7kWh of free charging daily, which provides about 45km of driving range. Beyond the free allowance, additional charging is available at competitive rates through the JOLT app. Now you can conveniently charge your car free at these two Resene ColorShops while you’re deciding which Eco-Choice-approved Resene paints and colours will be just right for your next project.

Top of the pots

Drum roll please… the Resene Top 20 colours have been announced and are based on the number of sales throughout the year. Black-edged whites slowly took over the top 20 last year, with Resene Black White and variants continuing to grow in popularity. This year we’ve also seen Resene Half Spanish White rise up the ranks reflecting the move to warmer whites. Check here to see the full list.

Winter is here

Paint application and performance can be adversely affected in cold temperatures, but using Resene Wintergrade Additive will help your paint cure at temperatures as low as 3°C. It can be added into a range of selected waterborne Resene paints to winterise them. It now comes in a new handy 250ml size.

Tips when using Resene Wintergrade Additive:

  • Always use paint you have mixed with Resene Wintergrade Additive promptly – ideally within a few days, at worst within one month.
  • Do not apply in temperatures over 10°C – use standard Resene decorative finishes instead.
  • Do not use in non-Resene paints.
  • Do not use when rain, snow or ice is expected.
  • Although the Resene Wintergrade Additive will not alter the original colour, it’s always best to use the same product consistently on the same wall – e.g. you would use the Resene Wintergrade Additive mixed product in one consistent coat for one wall face.
  • If you have a cold and wet day, unfortunately you can’t use Resene Wintergrade Additive and Resene Umbrella Additive at the same time. Use one or the other, not both.
